Lesson Description

Students learn to solve "consecutive integer" word problems, such as the following. The sum of three consecutive integers is 24. Find the integers. Note that three consecutive integers can be represented as x, x + 1, and x + 2, three consecutive even integers can be represented as x, x + 2, and x + 4, and three consecutive odd integers can also be represented as x, x + 2, and x + 4.
