Algebra 1: Lesson 107

Functions
Dependency and Correlational Relationships

Lesson Description

Students learn that in a dependency relationship, one variable depends on the other variable. For example, the amount of snow on the ground depends on the amount of snow that has fallen. The independent variable is the amount of snow that has fallen, and the dependent variable is the amount of snow on the ground. Students learn that in a correlational relationship, however, there is a connection between the variables, but one variable does not depend on the other. For example, the amount of TV that a person watches and the amount of soda that a person drinks is a correlational relationship.
