Algebra 1: Lesson 113

Graphs of Functions
Slope and Intercept

Lesson Description

Students learn that linear equations can be written in the form y = mx + b, where m represents the slope of the line, and b represents the y-intercept. For example, y = 3x + 7 has a slope of 3 and a y-intercept of 7. Students also learn to compare linear equations that are written in y = mx + b form by comparing their slopes and y-intercepts. Note that lines that have the same slope are parallel.
