Homeschool FAQ’s

Is the program a stand-alone curriculum, or do I need to use the program in conjunction with a textbook?

The program is designed as a stand-alone homeschool math curriculum. Each of our courses can be thought of as a “textbook with a teacher inside” - all the elements of a traditional textbook, with the teacher available on-demand. While the program can also be used in conjunction with a traditional textbook, it is primarily designed as a stand-alone curriculum.

What is the curriculum based on?

Our curriculum is based on the curriculum at one of the top private schools in the U.S. (our founder was formerly a math teacher there), so you can feel confident that your child is receiving the best possible education in math from YourTeacher.com.

Does the curriculum build on previous lessons?

Yes. One lesson is built on the next, so the student can gradually build their understanding of secondary level math with no confusing interruptions to the logical progression of concepts.

How long does it take to complete each lesson?

Each lesson is designed to correspond to a day in class, so it takes approximately 30 minutes to an hour to complete each lesson. However, all lessons are self-paced, so a student can go as quickly or as slowly as necessary.

When I subscribe, what lessons am I able to access?

When you subscribe, you are able to access our complete library of our lessons from all of our courses, allowing the student to go back and forth between courses if necessary.

When I subscribe, do I physically receive anything?

When you subscribe, you simply receive a username and password via email that allows you and the student to access all of our online lessons.

Are there printable materials?

There are plenty of printable materials, including extra problems, chapter tests, a complete solutions manual, and much more...

Where do I access the solutions to the extra problems and the chapter tests?

On the start-up page for subscribers, there is a “tests and solutions” menu on the left side of the page that provides links to the extra problem solutions, printable chapter tests, and printable keys to the chapter tests.

Can parents track their child’s progress online?

Yes. In each lesson, students are asked to take a multiple-choice "self-test" at the end of the lesson to demonstrate their mastery of a given concept. These “self-test” grades are then recorded in the “Grade Report,” which appears at the top of the lesson listing for each course.

How does this program compare with video-tape courses?

This program is very different from video-tape courses. First of all, the videos in this program are delivered online, so it is much easier to navigate within a video and between videos. Secondly, the videos only represent a small part of each lesson. Each lesson also includes a series of interactive practice problems with buttons for hints, answers, audio explanations, etc. There are also multiple-choice self-tests in each lesson that provide instant feedback on whether the student answered correctly or incorrectly, and the program records the self-test grades. There are also extra problems and notes in each lesson, along with many other features.

I can’t get the demo lesson to launch - what am I doing wrong?
