Pre-Algebra: Lesson 076

Variables and Expressions
The Distributive Property

Lesson Description

Students learn the distributive property, which states that when a number is located outside a set of parentheses, it can be "distributed" through the parentheses, multiplying times each of the numbers inside. For example, to simplify 6(w + 8), distribute the 6 through the parentheses, to get 6(w) + 6(8), or 6w + 48.
