This lesson covers the idea of greatest common factors. Students learn that the Greatest Common Factor of two numbers is the largest factor shared by both numbers. For example, to find the Greatest Common Factor of 8 and 12, since factors of 8 are 1, 2, 4, and 8, and factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12, the Greatest Common Factor of 8 and 12 is 4.
