Lesson Description

Students learn that changing the position of a given figure is called a transformation. When a figure is flipped over to create a mirror image, the transformation is called a reflection. When a figure is turned to a new position, the transformation is called a rotation. When a figure slides to a new position without flipping or turning, the transformation is called a translation. And when the dimensions of a figure are increased or decreased to create a new figure that is similar to the original figure, the transformation is called a dilation.
